Bedrooms

The Madison features two beautifully arranged bedrooms, each prioritising comfort.

The main bedroom features a king-size bed with crisp linens and soft furnishings, elegant lighting, and tasteful décor. You will also find double doors opening onto the private patio, filling the room with natural light and connecting you to the outdoors, a rare feature in Whitby.

The second bedroom continues the apartment’s refined style. It offers a comfortable small double bed, soft neutral tones and carefully selected accessories. This room is ideal for additional guests or children and provides a peaceful retreat at the end of the day.

Bathroom

The contemporary bathroom is finished in soft, neutral shades with modern fittings throughout. It includes a spacious walk-in shower, a wash basin and a WC. The space provides a fresh, hotel-style feel that perfectly complements the rest of the apartment.

Outdoor Space

One of The Madison’s standout features is its private outdoor patio area. The space is fully enclosed and surrounded by greenery. It is furnished for outdoor seating and offers a peaceful spot to enjoy your morning coffee or unwind with a drink in the evening. Having your own outdoor area so close to Whitby town centre makes this apartment a particularly special find.

Location

The Madison is ideally located for exploring Whitby on foot, with the harbour, beach, shops, restaurants and famous fish and chip spots all within a ten-minute walk, as well as historic landmarks such as Whitby Abbey.

For those keen to venture further afield, the surrounding coastline, moorland and woodland — including scenic walking and cycling routes through the North York Moors — are easily accessible by car or public transport, with picturesque villages such as Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes all within easy reach.

Parking & Practicalities

Guests benefit from free designated parking at the front of the building, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a private entrance with self check-in and check-out. The apartment is for your exclusive use throughout your stay, ensuring comfort and privacy from arrival to departure.

The Building

The Madison sits within Prospect Hill Apartments, a collection of three boutique holiday homes. When booked together, larger groups have exclusive use of the building, including the private parking and outdoor patio areas, while still enjoying the comfort of separate, self-contained apartments.

Salt Wind House

Located in the seaside town of Whitby, this Victorian terrace, built in 1865, offers a cosy, character-filled retreat for up to 4 guests. Thoughtfully styled and full of personality, it blends classic period features with bright, inviting décor to create a home-from-home you’ll look forward to returning to after every coastal adventure.

Living Area

Step into the light-filled living room, where traditional Victorian character meets relaxed, modern comfort. High ceilings, deep coving and the warm tones of the statement chimney breast create a beautiful focal point. The original-style tiled fireplace adds a touch of nostalgia, and the soft leather seating offers plenty of space for everyone to stretch out.

Nautical touches, shelves stocked with books, and a few personal touches here and there give the room a homely feel. Whether you’re watching TV, playing board games or simply unwinding after a day at the harbour, this cosy space is perfect for slow mornings and peaceful evenings in.

Dining Room & Kitchen

The dining room sits at the heart of the home. With mid-century style furniture, there’s plenty of room for everyone to gather, as well as eclectic artwork and warm colours, making it a bright and cheerful space ideal for family meals or long chats over a bottle of wine.

The kitchen, tucked just beyond the dining room, is beautifully equipped for self-catering. You’ll find a full range of modern appliances, including an oven, hob, microwave, kettle and plenty of cookware, along with open shelving, wooden worktops and a large window that fills the space with natural light. It’s compact but cleverly laid out, making meal prep easy and fuss-free.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

Head upstairs to the first floor, where two bedrooms await.

Main Bedroom:

The main bedroom is decorated in soft greens, with a sage feature wall and gentle lighting. The comfortable king-size bed is dressed in crisp linens and plush pillows, promising a restful night’s sleep after a busy day. This room also benefits from its own ensuite bathroom, complete with a walk-in shower, WC and basin, ideal for extra privacy and convenience.

Second Bedroom:

Bright, calming and furnished with a double bed, the second bedroom offers Neutral tones and homely touches.

Family Bathroom:

The main bathroom has a fresh, contemporary style, featuring a full-size bath with overhead shower, WC and basin. It’s the perfect place for a long soak after coastal walks or days exploring the moors.

A separate WC just next door means no queues in the morning, especially helpful for families.

Outdoor Space

To the rear of the property, you’ll find a private, enclosed yard, a rare treat for a home so close to town. Furnished with outdoor seating, it’s ideal for enjoying breakfast al fresco, soaking up some sunshine, or letting the kids play safely while you relax. It’s also a handy spot for sandy shoes, beach gear or muddy boots after long walks.

Extending the Guest Count

While the property is set up to comfortably sleep four guests across its two main bedrooms, additional space is available. For a fixed additional rate, the top floor can be opened up to include two extra single bedrooms. This option is ideal for larger families or groups who need a little more sleeping flexibility during their stay.

Getting There

There are two main walking routes from the town centre to the property. Although the usual route takes you up Winter Terrace, please be aware this involves a steep incline.

For an easier and shorter walk, take the road to the left of Bagdale Hall and head up Spring Hill. Continue following the road until you reach Whitby Hospital, then walk straight through the car park. This brings you out onto Spring Hill Terrace. Turn left onto Falcon Terrace, and at the end of the road, turn right onto North Road. Follow the road around to the left and continue onto Grove Street, where the property is located.
