Whitby Beach

Whitby, being the popular seaside town it is, boasts a gorgeous beach, which stays crowded in the summer. At the foot of the West Cliff lies Whitby Beach, your traditional British beach. The beach is about two miles walking distance from one end to the other.

During the summer this beach is a must-visit attraction, being lively as ever. However, all year round the beach is open to long dog-walks, fishing and building sandcastles.

Whitby Beach during the summer

Every Beach is at its best in summer; Whitby’s being no exception. There is nothing like a beautiful summer’s day, relaxing on a North Yorkshire Beach! There are plenty of lifeguards and swimming zones during these months, making it safe too.

The size of the beach means that there is plenty of fun to be had. Fly kites, go fishing, go swimming, go on boat rides, surfing, sailing and more.  Throughout the summer months, donkey rides are available on the beach too.

For a seaside getaway of your own, at any time of the year, contact Whitby Holiday Rentals. All of our Whitby accommodation is within walking distance of Whitby town centre, meaning you are right on the beach.

North Yorkshire Beaches

Despite this being the prominent beach in Whitby, it is not the only beach here. Just past the East Cliff is Saltwick Bay, a lovely beach setting tucked away at the foot of the cliff. The ideal blend of countryside and coastal!

If you follow the coastal path all the way down you will arrive at Sandsend Beach. Sandsend, itself, is a small village, with a cafe, chippy, gift shop and pub next to the beach. Sandsend Beach is a gorgeous hidden beach, with rock pools, river going into the sea and views of Whitby.
